Kondosfyris Harris (1965)

He was born in Mytilene (Lesvos) in 1965. He studied filmmaking at Hadjikou School, Athens (1984-1987) and painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1987-1993). He presented his first solo exhibition in 1992 (Desmos gallery, Athens).
From his early works, he uses building materials, such as cement and pieces of metal, which serve in principle as symbols, alluding to modern civilization and the urban landscape. He handles form, colour gradations and texture with great plastic flexibility. His works are often created in situ, as installations that redefine space. Soon he interpolates techniques and materials that reveal his interest in the processes of visual perception and the interactive role of the artworks. He creates reflections and perspectives of multiple mirror images, which trigger the viewer's participation in the functionality of the project. He frequently transforms images and narratives that refer to a wide variety of issues, social ones in particular. His work includes wall-mounted constructions, installations, paintings and sculptures.
Alongside his artistic career, he has taught at the Plastic Arts Faculty of the University of Ioannina as a lecturer (2007), and since 2010, he is assistant professor at the University of Western Macedonia, School of Fine Arts (Florina).
He has presented his work in 16 solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and has participated in group and international shows. Among others he has participated in the 3rd Biennale of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean (Bologna, 1988) and the 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale (2009), while in 2004, he represented Greece in the 26th Sao Paulo Biennale and the 2nd International Beijing Biennale.
