Born in Thessaloniki in 1955, she studies painting at the AFSA under Yannis Moralis (1974-1979). She continued with studies in Montreal (École des Beaux-Arts, Université du Québec, 1979) and the USA, with American art history a the State University of New York (1980) and painting at the Art Students League of New York (1981), and then with postgraduate studies at the School of Fine Arts of Boston University (1982-1984).
Her first solo exhibition (1991, Galerie 3) featured abstract compositions that conveyed the motion and rhythm of light in the form of folds in tones of ochre, white and grey. Her next show, Gas 1991-1994, with paintings, drawings and installations, was held in 1995 at her own studio and was inspired by the visual connection of the studio’s interior with its external surroundings. Her interest in visual events and the rendering of light and the shadows of object is also evident in the Shadows series (Galerie 3, 2005; Tsatsis Projects/Artforum Gallery, Thessaloniki 2008; Fragmental Museum & Flux Factory, Ν.Υ. 2009).
In her next two series, Chthonic snakes and sacred trees and Tapetum Lucidum, (Gallery Fizz, 2011 and Ekfrassi Gallery-Gianna Grammatopoulou, 2015, respectively), the painter conveys her concerns around nature and life. Her austere and elaborate drawing, based on a black and white contrast, depicts a dark world with images of forests, trees and trunks that have fallen victim to arson, thunder and drought.
She has had twelve solo exhibitions in Greece and the USA and has participated in over 60 group-thematic shows in Greece and abroad. Her works can be found in public and private collections in Europe, America and Asia. She is a member of the Horror Vacui group.
