Bolis Yannis (1966)

He was born in Elassona in 1966. He studied History and Archaeology at the Philosophy Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1987), where he completed his doctoral thesis, Art Exhibitions: Artists and their audience in the 19th century Athens (2000). Between 1992 and 2000, he worked as an art historian and academic advisor in the publication of the Greek Artists Dictionary: Painters-Sculptors-Printmakers. 16th-20th century (ed. Melissa, Athens: 1997-2000). Since 2000, he works as a curator of the Costakis Collection at the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki.
He taught History of Modern and Contemporary Art and History of Applied Arts as a research fellow at the Fine and Applied Arts Department of the University of Western Macedonia in Florina (2009-12). He participated in the listing and scientific documentation of the Costakis Collection and the other collections of the State Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki). He has written articles and studies for scientific exhibition catalogues, monographs, collective volumes, newspapers, art and literature magazines.
His published books include: Yannis Moralis (K. Adam Publications, Athens: 2005), Christos Caras (K. Adam Publications, Athens: 2006), Opy Zouni (K. Adam Publications, Athens: 2006), Yannoulis Chalepas (Publication of the newspaper ‘Ta Nea’, Athens: 2009), Vasso Katraki (Publication of the newspaper Ta Nea, Athens: 2009). He has curated art exhibitions and has collaborated in the organization of international exhibitions, art conferences and forums.
