She was born in 1959 in Komotini. She studied history of art at the Sorbonne (Paris IV University, 1978-1991), where she earned her Ph.D. (1991). The subject of her doctoral dissertation was in Greek postwar art. Moreover, she holds a degree in Museology (École du Louvre, 1984).
She has lived in Paris (1978-1984) and Brussels (1985-1993), while from 1994 to date, she is a curator at the Athens National Art Gallery - Alexandros Soutzos Museum, head of the department of Modern Greek Painting after 1945 and New Media.
She has curated numerous exhibitions at this post (thematic and retrospective ones), which have been held at the premises of the National Gallery and also at its Annexes, or in cooperation with Municipalities. Furthermore, she is the author of many scientific papers on the Greek art of the 20th century.
As a freelance curator, she curates retrospective and historical exhibitions throughout Greece, as well as solo or group shows of young artists.
From 1996 to 1999, she taught history of art at AKTO College of Art & Design. She has published articles and studies on art history in specialized journals and newspapers and has produced monographs and reviews on the work of contemporary artists, mostly Greeks.
In 2001, she was the Commissioner of Greece at the 49th Venice Biennale. For three consecutive years (2001, 2002 and 2003), she participated in the international exhibition of sculpture and installations Open (Lido, Venice), as a curator.
She has given lectures throughout Greece, and has participated in scientific conferences of art history. She is a member of AICA Hellas and a founding member of the Association of Greek Art Historians (EEIT).
